Bobcats update: Mid January Games

Bobcat Girls Varsity
On Friday, January 18th, the High School Lady Bobcats played against Florence at home.
The Varsity Girls played hard, but lost to Florence 39-20. The high scorer of the game was Lindsey Gillmore with six points. Emma Aldrich brought six points, Memphis Curry added five, Brittany Benoit two, and Hailey Hunter with two points.
JV Girls Basketball
The JV Girls played a good game with a win of 17-14. Scoring the most points of the game was Morgan Foster with 9. Kaya Huffman put up five points, added by Katie Wilkinson with two, and Delaney Downing with one point. Continue reading Bobcats update: Mid January Games

Awards Banquet Closes Bobcat Basketball Season

Last week, the Custer County Boy’s Basketball team had their end of season banquet. Coach Prins talked about the successful things that happen this year, the 18-game JV schedule, having 16 players to finish the season, the team improving each week, never quitting and the 22 points scored in the second
quarter at Del Norte.
Each player was introduced and received an award.Participation awards went to Wyatt Aldrich, Matthew Kienbusch, Dillon Kinsey, James Koester, JD Morris, Hunter Speer, and Elias Zeller.
Letters went to William (Billy) Berry, Wesley Curtis, David Kinsey, Chad Lewenkamp, Kobe Lewsader, Jakob Morris, Patrick Post, Eero Prusti, and Cash Rowley.
Assistant Coaches Cole McCollum and Scott Thomas handed out the team awards. These awards were voted on by the players. Coach Thomas handed out the “Hustle Award” to Patrick Post and
“Defensive Player of the Year” to
David Kinsey. Coach McCollum handed out the “Most Improved Player” to Eero Prusti and the “Most Valuable Player” to William (Billy) Berry.
Coach Prins thanked the parents, Joy Parrish, Jack Christensen and the players for their support. The program ended with a slide show of pictures and music put together by Deanna Woods.

Bobcats Boys Finish Well With Final Game Victory!

The Custer County High School Boys Basketball Team ended the regular season with a victory over Cripple Creek-Victor on Saturday, February 17th. The Bobcats fought their way to a crowd-pleasing comeback score of 55-53. After a sluggish first half which saw the Bobcats down by as much as 17 points, the boys came out in the second half ready to play some basketball. Custer County scored 35 points and sharpened their defense to hold the Pioneers to 22. Patrick Post led the team in scoring with 20 points. Kobe Lewsader added 14 points and had 13 rebounds. Lady Bobcats Qualify for Basketball Playoffs!

With two wins the weekend of February 16th and 17th, the Lady Bobcats have advanced to the 2-A District 1 Quarter-finals. On Friday, the girls played an away game against the Center Vikings and came out on top 62-38. Elizabeth Mullett paced her team with 27 points and Katie Florom scored 15, for second high in scoring.
The girls team came out strong on the home court on Saturday, the 17th against Cripple Creek-Victor, defeating the Pioneers 51-34. Senior Elizabeth Mullett and sophomore Lindsey Gilmore each scored 15 points, followed by freshman Catherine Mullett’s nine points to lead the Lady Bobcats scoring effort. Bobcat Basketball Update

The Custer County High School Boys Basketball Team played two games this past weekend. On Friday the Bobcats lost to ECA 58 to 43. Billy Berry led the Bobcats in scoring with 15 points and in rebounding with 9 rebounds. Kobe Lewsader added 12 points. Patrick Post had five assists and Chad Lewenkamp added four assists. On Saturday night, the Bobcats went to Mosco and lost to Sangre de Cristo 64-50. Patrick Post lead the team in scoring with 21 points, Kobe Lewsader added 18 points. Billy Berry lead team in rebounds with 18. Chad Lewenkamp lead the team in steals with three points and assists with four. David Kinsey added three assists.
The JV team went one and one over the weekend. The young Bobcats lost on Friday night to ECA 46 – 15. Wesley Curtis lead the team in scoring with 10 points. Eero Prusti lead the team rebounds with six and Logan Kinsey lead team in steals with two and had two blocked shots.
On Saturday, the JV Bobcats won a close game against Sangre de Cristo 15-14, with Wyatt Aldrich making a free throw in the last few seconds of the game. Matthew Kienbusch lead the team in scoring with six points. James Koester lead team in assists two and Logan Kinsey lead the team in rebounds with six.
The Custer County High School Boy’s JV Basketball team took on the Cotopaxi Pirates Monday night. The young Bobcats lost 41-27. Eero Prusti lead the team in scoring with 10 points, Wesley Curtis and Logan Kinsey each added six. Eero also lead the team in rebounding with seven, Matt Kienbusch added four. Wyatt Aldrich and Hunter Speer each had two assists to lead the team and Logan Kinsey had three steals.
