The Printz Transcript

The missing sections of Custer County’s video recording are highlighted here in red bold italics.

To compare the audio that the Sentinel reporter took, see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VCWmDsnziFo

To see how much Mr Printz likes that recorder, see this clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LVjXRDXp47U

Mr. Printz: “I’m going to take a couple of minutes here because I think it’s very important for me to tell this audience, the audience at home and the audience watching on the computer, that I am sick and damn tired of being personally attacked by that lady sitting there in purple, Jaxine Bubis, a.k.a. Jaxine Daniels and her newspaper.
What I’m referring to is an ongoing and continuous attempt to harass me, to discredit me, and make me look bad.
Specifically, I’m talking about this. Some of you have seen it. If you read that thing they call a newspaper, this was in here. I’m going to read it to you. I’m going to tell you what it is.
It’s a picture of the back end of my car with Texas license plate on it and this is what it says: Guess which commissioner is driving this car to work. That’s the headlines. Underneath it says: A certain county commissioner has been driving his Subaru registered in Texas for a while. Vehicle registration fees, etc. are dramatically lower in Texas than Colorado. You’ve gotta wonder who he’s representing, Austin, Texas elitists or the taxpaying citizens of Custer County. Yes another in quotes buy local hypocrite with a question mark. In politics optics means a lot. Editor GG – I’m assuming that it George Gramlich.
And then the byline says photo courtesy by a paid local tax Citizen. They don’t even have the nerve to tell me who it is. But I know who it is. Okay.
So let me respond to this. This has been an ongoing personal attack against me and I’m damn tired of it. Okay. I will not handle it any more. I will stand up and fight. I have taking this over and over and over and I’m tired of it.
So, I’m standing up to the bullies and I have endured this and I’m not going
to take it.
Let me tell you why this car – my car – I admit it is my car – is registered in Texas. I was recalled inappropriately with lies and vexatious statements stating things about me that were totally untrue. I expected to be thrown out of office in the recall…
Citizen speaks from the gallery: Mr. Chairman…
Mr. Printz: You shut up! I’m talking right now. I have the floor. OK. What happened, I expected to be recalled and thrown out of office. I bought a house during that period of time in TX – not because I have any love for TX, but because that’s where my family, my grandchildren and my children live and I will be moving to TX to retire when this community threw me out of this office.
They did not do that, okay. But I bought the house. During that period of time I bought a car because my car died and I registered it in TX because that’s where I expected to live. Hence my car is in TX.
Now let’s talk about something about how I’m somehow circumventing the value in this county by spending my money elsewhere. I’m going to talk about a couple things I want you to listen carefully to.
Number one: I have never, since day one, taken one penny of the insurance money in this county. Not one penny. I have turned my insurance entitlement back and said I don’t want it. And I wanna tell you something else – all my fellow commissioners have done the same thing. I commend you for that. I respect you for that. And I wanna tell you – both these gentlemen, while we don’t see ideologically on every issue, these gentlemen have been outstanding to this community. They vote what’s best for this county and have put their political differences aside and did what’s best for us. Thank you, gentlemen.
The insurance I’ve turned back in 2017 was $12,384.84. So far as 2018 it was $6,611.08. Totally I’ve given back, or have not accepted insurance of $18,995.32. There are other people in this community, excuse me, in this county, who have also not taken insurance for whatever reason they choose. However, retirement. There is only one person on the payroll in this entire county that has not taken retirement. One person and that is me. How much is that amount to? In 2017, I rejected $2,584.40 worth of retirement income. So far in 2018, I’ve rejected $1,507.57. For a total of $4,091.97. To this date, I have rejected entitlements I’m entitled to, because the taxpayers need this money, of $23, 087.89.
So this CRAP, and excuse me if using that word, and if it offends you I am sorry. This crap is gonna stop and I will not put up with it any more. I’m done Mr. Chairman, you can move on.
And by the way, this person knows about it because she’s made multiple CORA requests – that’s Colorado Open Records Act – she has verified numerous times that I have rejected these entitlements. Numerous times. Do you see that in the paper going oh, congratulations, Commissioner Printz, for saving the county money. Hell no. What you see is this garbage. And I am dead tired of it. And I will fight it from now on. I’ve put up with it for a long time and I am done.
Mr. Chairman, thank you for giving me that opportunity and I am done.”
