LTE- Are We Driven by Faith or Fear?

LETTER TO THE EDITOR
of the Trib,
Dear Jordan,
In response to the recent articles printed in the Tribune, I present the following comments. First, I would point out that I am a follower of Christ. I am not interested in engaging in any negative dialogue because there are at least two sides to every issue. I respect opinions that are not concurrent with mine. I just want to see facts presented from both sides.
However, I make every effort to base my thoughts and actions in Biblical principles. In Psalm 91 it states, “I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress, My God, in whom I trust! For it is He who delivers you from the snare of the trapper and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with His pinions, and under His wings you may seek refuge. His faithfulness is a shield and bulwark. You will not be afraid of the terror by night, or of the
arrow that flies by day; of the pestilence that stalks in darkness, or of the destruction that lays waste at noon. Because you have made the LORD your dwelling place—the Most High, who is my refuge. No evil will befall you, nor will any plague come near your tent. For He will give His angels charge concerning you, to guard you in all your ways.”
Are we to be driven by faith or fear? It has been written that faith and fear cannot survive together in a person. Either fear conquers faith or faith conquers fear. They cannot exist together. Fear must be removed for faith to triumph. I personally choose faith. Currently, we are a population driven by fear. In four months our country has been transformed into an obedient, socialist society. Government attempts to dictate what events are acceptable to attend. Many dictating policy are not elected by the people.
Violent protests that instill fear are okay – but church services, family funerals and patriotic celebrations are dangerous. Small businesses were forced to close; but crowds to support corporate money machines at WalMart, Lowe’s and Home Depot are approved. Think about this. In less than four months our government has successfully instilled fear in a majority of the population of America. This allows them to control every aspect of your life, including what you eat, where you go and who you see.
It is absolutely terrifying to me that so many people don’t question “authority.” They are willing to surrender their critical thinking skills and independence without a fight. A majority of the population follows blindly because they are told to do so.
I personally know doctors from several states that opine Covid-19 has been exaggerated. They believe that the data has been and continues to be skewed. Proven treatments are ignored. Their information continues to be vilified by the media without any proof or public investigation. Information continues to surface regarding the fraud that accompanies the information distributed.
I personally have opinions about that, but that is for another
discussion.
To be sure, I am one of Hillary’s deplorables and one of those
Bible toting, gun carrying citizens in fly-over country that believes that America is the most fantastic
country on the planet. I also believe this is because we were founded on Christian principles. Our Constitution provides for a form of government that has allowed us to become the most benevolent and successful nation in history. Our Maker grants us our rights, liberties and freedoms – not government.
The Tribune has had recent articles regarding the Custer Citizens for the Constitution’s attempt to work with the Board of Health (BoH) to seek a variance for an upcoming political event. My purpose for appearing at the BoH meeting was to seek advice on obtaining a BoH variance. The language in the request provided to the local BoH had previously been approved in Denver. To say the environment was hostile by some members of the BoH would be an understatement. Certain members were insistent that more restrictive language be used.
In a full-page ad in the Tribune, there were some incorrect statements made about the event that I would like to bring to focus for your readership. “The proposed rally is poorly planned.” That is absolutely incorrect. Some of the finest professionals I have had the opportunity to work with have completed meticulous detailed planning in every aspect of this event. Another claim made is that “this is a blatant disregard for the safety and health of others.” This is simply an uninformed opinion.
During the BoH discussions I was asked to give the number of people that would be in attendance. There is no possible way to speculate the attendance at an event that at the time had no tickets on sale. “We fear,” (there is that word again) “that it may be an even greater number of attendees.” This is pure speculation without any basis of fact. This is an often-used tactic in the news media to generate fictional information to sway the uninformed to their way of thinking or to create doubt. Because other organizations in our community canceled “well planned events,” they insinuated that our event was not and that we should follow their fearful lead without considering the actual circumstances that exist. Please notice how many times the word “may” is used in the news media to make an outlandish opinion that allows the media plausible deniability.
This event was planned as an outdoor event where the “orders” state that no masks are required. However, while in the BoH meeting where we were discussing the “requirements” and language in order to comply with BoH, I was constantly badgered with “compliance” questions that were demanding we implement “regulations for the event” that would violate the Constitutional rights of citizens. Never happen!
The statement “without concern or care for their neighbors” is an opinion without any basis of fact concerning the “protest march.” However, that was not of concern for the BLM protest. The same snide remarks were applied to the tremendous rodeo event. This duplicity should be a subject of discussion. Where is the outrage over the destructive riots in our larger leftwing controlled cities? The reality is that none of the events caused the “dire consequences for us all” that the one hundred thirty-one members of the concernedcusterctycitizens@gmail.com” had hoped for – I know, that is an opinion. By the way, as stated in the Tribune ad, I attempted to find more information by going to the web page but
according to google and yahoo, that web site does not exist. There are other conclusions listed, but in the interest of brevity,
I will not address.
I am convinced that this virus business is all about 3 November. If anyone has any facts to convince me otherwise, I would love to discuss these with you and have you change my mind.
My prayer is that all people will have the same close personal relationship with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, that I have so that all citizens can have the same peace and contentment. Then we can put aside political differences and work to the betterment of our county. Cooperation is more important now than ever before in our nation. I would like to believe that none of us desire to live in a socialist or communist controlled government.

God bless and semper fi in Christ,
Bob Hollingsworth,
