The September 27, 2024 Custer County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) regular meeting was held in their royally appointed quarters across the courthouse. All three Commissioners were present: Bill Canda, Lucas Epp and Kevin Day. County Attorney Dan Slater was also present.
In Commissioner Items, Canda said a private donor will be paying for an animal control fence to be built around the SilverWest Airport. The cost is approximately $450,000.
In New Business, the Finance Report was first up. Lisa Hemann, from Redlands Accounting gave the report. (Redlands is the accounting firm the BOCC hired to help fix the audit issues, conversion problems and a myriad of other things in the Finance Department.) Lisa said she was spending the last few weeks working on payroll reports, an insurance problem, and reviewing the cash account. She is also working with the Treasury Office on CIC accounting system problems. Lisa noted that the CIC system has a lot of “glitches”. Lisa is still working on the massive credit card problem and has to go back to July of 2021 to make sure she catches all the issues.
The Commissioners then passed the impoundment agreement with the Humane Society of Fremont County. They then ratified an agreement with the Music Meadows Ranch regarding property usage.
In Public Comments, local democrat big wig, James “Dr. Doom” Gilbert, was in a huff about Sheriff Smith calling Jordan “Red Bug” Hedberg’s Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) lawsuit against the County “frivolous” last week. This set him off in another Kamala style word-salad explosion which included these tidbits: freedom of the press, information dripping out from the board and agencies, erosion of our election system (you can’t make this stuff up, folks), comments about no confidence in our election system is not good (the left considers that misinformation and it must be suppressed), unfortunate that the Sheriff should consider a restraining order “frivolous” (it is). Gilbert finished his Ceasar salad entre with a rousing plea for the Commissioners to “unite in support of the election system in this county”. BRAVISSIMO! Dr. Doom!
