Hedberg Files Criminal and Ethics Complaint Against BoH Director Dr. Brown

By any measure, the Director of Custer County’s Public Health Agency, Dr. Clifford Brown, has done an exemplary job since being hired last year. Through a very, very difficult year with the covid craziness, Dr. Brown has been a steady hand at the helm. He has maintained good communication channels with Denver and, with the help of Custer County’s Office of Emergency Management, planned and executed a professional vaccination structure that has gotten wide-spread praise.
So it has been a bit strange to see the editor of the Wet Mountain Valley Tribune, Jordan Hedberg, start last year and continue to wage an obsessive campaign to discredit this man. Last year, in a series of articles, Hedberg alleged that one of the items on Brown’s resume was fake: a Master’s Degree in Public Health granted to Brown by Dartley University.
According to Brown, Hedberg filed a criminal complaint against Brown in December 2020 with the Custer County Sheriff’s Office accusing Brown with the crime of forgery regarding his transcript and diploma from Dartley University. Strange indeed. (See Brown’s response to the ethics complaint below for the sordid details.)
In addition, Hedberg filed another complaint against Brown with the Independent Ethics Commission of the State of Colorado (also in December 2020). That complaint states:

“On September 30, 2020 Clifford Brown, Public Health Director for Custer County, presented to the Custer County Board of Health fake transcripts and a fake Diploma from a criminal and illegal online diploma mill called “Dartley University.” Dartley University is a known Diploma Mill and has been subject to FBI investigation in the past.
When Brown knowingly presented his fake academic credentials for a Master in Public Health, he committed a class-two forgery which is a class-one misdemeanor in Colorado.”

In Dr. Brown’s response to the ethics complaint he explains again as he had done in at least one BoH meeting, that he was desirous of getting a Master’s in Public Health degree and had been accepted at a couple of well-known universities. However, his employer would not grant him a leave of absence, so he decided to get one via an online program somewhere. The place turned out to be Dartley University. He completed the online course work, complete with academic transcripts and got his diploma.

Nobody is saying Dartley is Yale, nor did Brown ever misrepresent the credentials of Dartley. One can allege it is a “diploma mill” but if Brown did the required work as required by the university and received a diploma from them, who cares? One can argue, based on the current collegiate academic standards around the country, that these online universities might not be too far removed academically from our more well know entities. And, is it wrong to get educated at a second-tier school? Or a third-tier school? Not everybody has the time and money to educate themselves at the top tier schools. Brown did the work required by Dartley and got his diploma. If Dartley is a third-rate school who cares?

Brown’s resume  is incredible. We are beyond lucky to have a guy of his experience here.
I think when you read Dr. Brown’s  response you will see the whole story. These attacks should never have happened. The only remaining question is why the overboard obsession by the accuser?

CUSTER COUNTY, Colo.

Last week’s vote by the Custer County Public Health Agency (BoH) board members to declare the county “normal” and refuse to follow the covid mandates and rules from our Denver overlords made shockwaves all over the state. And especially in the King Polis throne room. As seen below, the state bureaucrats were in an uproar and literally threatened Custer with retribution.
So, this BoH meeting of March 10, 2021, promised to be pretty hot. And hot it was.
The meeting was moved to the courtroom so the peasants could attend. (And attend they did.)   Continue reading “Thank God for Custer County!” BoH Stands Tall: We Are Open and Free

Well, this one had some high drama with one board member still clinging to the mask sheeple/fear doctrine so beloved by liberal types. But freedom won in the end.
The Custer County Public Board of Health’s (BoH) meeting started at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 3, 2021. All three Board Members were there: Chair Bill Canda and Members Tom Flower and Kevin Day. County Attorney Clint Smith was hovering in the background while Board of Health honcho Dr. Clifford Brown and Office of Emergency Management (OEM) chief Adrian Washington were in the peanut gallery. Some progress is being made: The Custer County Board of County Commissioners had their first, real open meeting (i.e., you can actually go and sit in the same throne room as the three musketeers), AND, you don’t even have to wear a death mask.
The meeting place honors went to the Wetmore Community Center community room. The February 17th 9 a.m. meeting was attended by Board Chair Bill Canda, Board members Tom Flower and Kevin Day, County Attorney Clint Smith and County Clerk Kelly Camper plus a few peasants in the audience.
No bombshells to report (sorry) but there was a 30+ minute Chinese Clown Town fire drill at the end involving the whole ensemble over three related pieces of paper which is illustrative of the problems with down scale group think.

A Bomb Hoax at Lowe’s Supermarket?

by George Gramlich
Quite a lot of strange goings on in Happy Valley lately, and last week’s possible bomb threat at Lowe’s Supermarket added a new twist to the drama in our once, relatively quiet valley.
Probably the safest way to present the incident is via the Custer County Sheriff’s Office’s Press releases instead of the rampant rumor mongering that went on.
So here is Exhibit A:

Facebook: Custer County Sheriff’s Office
February 11 at 10:27 a.m.
* Developing Situation*
This morning an observant Lowes employee noticed a suspicious package sitting next to the propane tanks at the grocery store. This employee started to move the package and then decided that may be a bad idea and contacted the sheriff’s
office. A deputy and the fire department responded and determined the package was very suspicious and could possibly be an incendiary device. The Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office bomb squad is enroute to assist in securing the package.
At this time the grocery store is closed and main street is also closed on the west end in front of the grocery store. If you are planning to go to the bowling alley, please enter from the west side off of Adams. Closures will most likely remain in effect for a few hours until the situation is resolved.
We will provide updates as they develop.
Thank you.

So, the Sheriff’s Office blocks off “downtown” Westcliffe for hours as the Pueblo County Sheriff’s
Office bomb squad rushes to the scene. Pretty wild stuff for Westcliffe.
The Pueblo bomb boys secure the object and examine it as noted below in a subsequent press release from the Custer County

Sheriff’s Office:
Case Number 21-0088 February 16, 2021
PRESS RELEASE
On Thursday February 11, 2021, at approximately 8:00a.m. a deputy received a report of a suspicious package located by a propane exchange cage at Lowe’s Grocery Store located at 50 Main St. in Westcliffe. The responding deputy observed the package and believed it was possibly a large ariel firework.
Photographs of the item were sent to the Pueblo Metro Bomb Disposal Unit and a licensed commercial firework technician who also agreed it could be an older commercial grade aerial firework mortar. Due to the size of the device and because it could not be positively identified the Metro Bomb Disposal Unit responded to examine it further.
After the bomb technicians were able to examine and x-ray the device, they were still unable to determine what the item actually was. It was removed by the bomb disposal technicians and transported away from town and detonated in a controlled manner by Pueblo Metro Bomb Disposal Unit.
After the item was detonated with a low-grade explosive device the contents were examined by both the Colorado State Patrol Hazardous Materials Unit and the Pueblo Metro Bomb Disposal Unit it was determined the item did not contain any explosive materials.

The experts suspected that, visually, the device might have been “an older commercial grade aerial firework mortar” but “the item did not contain any explosive materials”. Visually it looked like a possible bomb. Placed next to a whole bunch of full five-gallon propane containers. Was it placed there to intimidate Lowe’s Market? Or to make a statement to the whole county for some social or political reason? Whatever the reason, the person or persons who placed the device there are sick beyond the pale and need to be brought to justice. Continue reading A Bomb Hoax at Lowe’s Supermarket?

Left Not So Tolerant

Editor;
I recently attended a Trump rally. Yes, I was proud to carry a Trump sign supporting our president. I was however amazed at the amount of people who flipped us off while driving by, amazed at the hateful glares we received!
At 68 years old, I’ve seen this country go from God-fearing to a godless nation. I’ve seen hate grow and love wane. I’ve experienced the loss of friends simply due to the fact that I’m a conservative Christian. Continue reading Left Not So Tolerant

February 2 BOCC Meeting Report: Bridge Repair, STR Public Meeting Set for 26th

BOCC Feb. 2nd: “We Need to Fix This”,
Bridge Repair, STR Regulations,
Food Charity, VSO

by George Gramlich

The meeting started at 9 a.m. with a break for lunch.
All three commissioners were present: Chair Bill Canda, and Board members Tom Flower and Kevin Day. County Attorney Clint Smith was also present.
All three commissioners did their “what did I do since the last meeting” recitations. No revelations there.
Day then brought up a good point. At the last meeting they approved a motion making masks optional in the county courthouse rather than “mandatory”. Day said they really meant all county buildings, but the resolution specifically said, by mistake, the courthouse. Day said “we need to fix this” so they put it on the agenda for the February 17 meeting in Wetmore.
Flower then brings up the subject of how items can be added to the BOCC’s meeting agendas. This starts a LONG, disjointed discussion. It appears it was never settled. Continue reading February 2 BOCC Meeting Report: Bridge Repair, STR Public Meeting Set for 26th

Bishop Sends Armed Rent-a-cops to Local Church To Terrorize Worshipers

by Fred Hernandez

Church. A sanctuary. A place of peace, meditation and serenity. Hallowed ground and the home of God. For many the church is the last bastion of all that is good, decent and up lifting. Where people go to be spiritually nourished and with that nourishment even attain physical healing. A place of joy.

On Sunday, January 17th, that joy, peace, healing and all of what represents good was suddenly and irrevocably shattered at the Catholic Church of Our Lady of the Assumption in the little town of Westcliffe, high up in the Wet Mountain Valley, County of Custer, the State of Colorado, at the foot of the majestic Sangre de Cristo Mountain Range. Like a fine and delicate glass of champagne thrown violently against a concrete wall, the crash reverberated throughout the hills and valleys of this peaceful community as social media echoed the sounds of impending totalitarian control.
