Well, some good news for a change from our almost regal three musketeers. But again, a long, drawn out three-hour meeting that was painful to watch at times. So, let’s begin.
The August 4, 2021 Custer County Board of County Commissioners meeting started at 9 a.m. with all three muskies present: Board Chair Bill Canda and members Tom Flower and Kevin Day. Two guys from Westcliffe Meats, Aaron Kemp and Montana Canterbury were in the peasants’ gallery. Continue reading BOCC: Happy Ending to the Westcliffe Meats Saga

News and Notations
The Custer County Board of County Commissioners had its July 14, 2021 meeting at the palatial Wetmore Community Center. It started at 9 a.m. All three musketeer commissioners were present: Chair Bill Canda and muskies Tom Flower and Kevin Day.
The meeting started with Commissioner Items where they dazzle us with all the good things they have done since the last meeting.
Day was up first with some possible bad news. The Florence Fire Protection District has decided not to include Wetmore (which is in Custer County) in their proposed new ambulance special district. This leaves the Wetmore folks exposed a bit but our own EMS crew has been servicing the area, However, it is a long haul. Day said the Florence people are open to a deal with Custer County over the area via a Memorandum of Understanding or some other approach. He also noted the Penrose EMS had stopped operating as of July 1st as they didn’t have enough people to run it. (Wetmore EMS coverage has been an on again/off again struggle for years now.) April 6th BOCC: Planning & Zoning Report, STR’s, Zoom Stays
by George Gramlich
Pretty mundane stuff at this one. The Custer County Board of County Commissioners’ April 6, 2021 meeting started at 9 a.m. with Chair Bill Canda and member Tom Flower present in the throne room and member Kevin Day participating via Zoom (as he is finishing up his isolation after testing positive for the red bug.) County Attorney Clint Smith and County Clerk Kelley Camper were also present. Continue reading April 6th BOCC: Planning & Zoning Report, STR’s, Zoom Stays

Some progress is being made: The Custer County Board of County Commissioners had their first, real open meeting (i.e., you can actually go and sit in the same throne room as the three musketeers), AND, you don’t even have to wear a death mask.
The meeting place honors went to the Wetmore Community Center community room. The February 17th 9 a.m. meeting was attended by Board Chair Bill Canda, Board members Tom Flower and Kevin Day, County Attorney Clint Smith and County Clerk Kelly Camper plus a few peasants in the audience.
No bombshells to report (sorry) but there was a 30+ minute Chinese Clown Town fire drill at the end involving the whole ensemble over three related pieces of paper which is illustrative of the problems with down scale group think.

February 2 BOCC Meeting Report: Bridge Repair, STR Public Meeting Set for 26th
BOCC Feb. 2nd: “We Need to Fix This”,
Bridge Repair, STR Regulations,
Food Charity, VSO
by George Gramlich
The meeting started at 9 a.m. with a break for lunch.
All three commissioners were present: Chair Bill Canda, and Board members Tom Flower and Kevin Day. County Attorney Clint Smith was also present.
All three commissioners did their “what did I do since the last meeting” recitations. No revelations there.
Day then brought up a good point. At the last meeting they approved a motion making masks optional in the county courthouse rather than “mandatory”. Day said they really meant all county buildings, but the resolution specifically said, by mistake, the courthouse. Day said “we need to fix this” so they put it on the agenda for the February 17 meeting in Wetmore.
Flower then brings up the subject of how items can be added to the BOCC’s meeting agendas. This starts a LONG, disjointed discussion. It appears it was never settled. Continue reading February 2 BOCC Meeting Report: Bridge Repair, STR Public Meeting Set for 26th
