Four not Five Board Positions & Hospital District Voter Information

Press Release
West Custer County
Hospital District

The announcement that all five West Custer County Hospital District board members were up for re-election in 2018 was in error. We apologize to the community for this oversight and any inconvenience it may have caused.

After conferring with Kelley Camper, Custer County Clerk and Recorder and DEO of the May 2016 Hospital District Election, it was confirmed that of the five board members currently running, Bob Weisenbach and Ann Evans were appointed and therefore must run in this May’s election to retain their seat. Bob Tobin, Janny Candelaria and Katherine Ripley-Williams ran uncontested in May 2016, thus awarding them their seat. Mr. Tobin and Ms. Candelaria’s terms were for 2 years and will expire in May 2018. Ms. Ripley-Williams was elected to a 4-year term which expires in 2020. Once this was clarified with the state and upon the advice of counsel, Ms. Ripley-Williams has withdrawn her self-nomination and we are in the process of removing her name from the ballot. Thus, there will be 4 board seats to be contested, not the 5 as was originally announced.
