New Years Eve at Tony’s Weather or not, the Fun Was On

by Fred Hernandez
The weather forecast called for 100% precipitation with an accumulation of about 4-8 inches of snow. Temperature would be around minus seven with a wind chill factor of minus fifteen to minus twenty degrees. It was the perfect night to stay home and sit by a nice fire; reminiscent of the song made famous by Dean Martin for those who will remember the good old days. The words were perfectly suited for the New Year’s Party at Tony’s Mountain Pizza:
“Oh, the weather outside is frightful
but the fire is so delightful
and since we’ve got no place to go
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow”
Hosting the evenings event the Hepps (Sam, Carol and Jill) and their staff of well trained professionals set out a buffet that was second to none in quality and presentation. The tables and chairs were decked out in fine embroidered cloth topped off with the decor fit for the season. The menu featured fresh, succulent shrimp, cubed chicken and sliced beef to make fajitas from fresh corn or flour tortillas. Side dishes of beans, grated cheese, guacamole, chips and salsa added to the full complement of a most delectable and sumptuous dinner. Every table had bottles of wine to help in the joyful celebration. Every detail perfectly planned and executed down to most delicious desserts. Champagne to ring in the new year in a cheerful toast was passed out to all. And there was no disappointment in the turn out as heavily coated people came out of the swirling snow outside and into the warm room which was full to capacity by the time dinner was served. The Silver Cliff Lights highlighted the evening’s entertainment with their familiar repertoire so much appreciated by the Custer Community….Yes it was a wonderful evening and the perfect way to welcome the new year 2019.
We pray for many blessings for all the residents of our county asking the Lord for peace, better understanding and a spirit of brotherhood that transcends all political and personal agendas. Welcome 2019!
“Man, it shows no signs
of stopping
and I got me some corn
for popping
the lights are turned way down low
Let is snow, let snow,
let it snow.”
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ONE AND ALL.
