Special Speaker to tell stories of Patriot’s Day

Dear C-1 students, teachers, administrators, parents and school board,

You are invited to attend on March 28th, 2019 a Liberty Rocks meeting at Tony’s Mountain Pizza at 6 PM. There are many reasons why this session will benefit students. As most adults know, prior to the American Revolution taverns and coffee houses in the colonies were filled with debate on whether the colonies should declare their independence from England. The “Liberty Rocks” sessions have been designed to duplicate the colonial meetings that were so popular 244 years ago. I have attended about two dozen of these meetings and have found them to be stimulating, informative and participative. All who attend are invited to add their own relevant knowledge, opinions and experiences to the material presented. Participation will reinforce learning that take place at all education levels. Students in particular will see first-hand how mature adults remember and can discuss that which they learned in elementary education. They will also get a sense of how important America’s history and founding are to people even after 40, 50 or 60 years.

On April 19th, 2019, we will celebrate “Patriots’ Day,” the anniversary of the Battles of Lexington and Concord in 1775. These events were immortalized by Ralph Waldo Emerson with his poem Concord Hymn written in 1837. Most remember the line, “the shot heard ‘round the world.” These momentous dates and occurrences are important for all Americans to know.

We hope to see you at this well attended event.

Joe Cascarelli,  Cody Park

PS I urge you to pass this announcement along to other citizens and to display a copy in the halls and class rooms around the schools. JC
