High Plains Cowgirls 1st Place in 2020 year end at WRRA

Local Custerite, Katlyn Rusher, recently competed in the Women’s Ranch Rodeo Association (WRRA) finals, October 30-31 in Pawhuska, OK. The team earned a First Place finish in the overall 2020 series.

High Plains Cowgirls (Team Name) – 1st Place in 2020 year end Series points. Members are:
Katlyn Rusher – Born and raised in Westcliffe, CO, and currently works on her family ranch in Westcliffe. She is the daughter of John Rusher and Elin Ganschow. Some of her hobbies are team roping and ranch rodeo. She joined the WRRA this year and is very much looking forward to years ahead.
Joette Schalla – Grew up on her family ranch in SE Colorado. She is a graduate of OPSU, competing in rodeo and earning a business degree.
Stacie Meston – Works on a ranch outside of Lamar, CO. She recently graduated from LCC with an Equine Business degree.
Denise McClurg – A Kansas native that has competed at WRRA rodeos for the past six years.
A local rodeo committee is being formed to host a WRRA event in Westcliffe. It is amazing to experience the talent that women possess in the actual skill of working cattle.
