BOCC: July 7 -BOCC: Lefty Loses Bid for Trick Resolution

News and Notations
The Custer County’s Board of County Commissioners throne room was pretty much filled at the start of the July 7, 2021 regular board meeting at 9 a.m. All three gallant musketeers were present: Board Chair Bill Canda and muskies Tom Flower and Kevin Day.
Canda opened with Commissioner Items. Flower noted that the landfill has three vehicles they want to auction off. Flower also said the muskies better get going on setting up the application process to distribute the big bucks in the American Rescue Fund as people are gearing up to grab the pork from the Imperial City. Thus, another workshop is needed and that is scheduled for July 19th at 9 a.m.
The Airport Report crew said CDOT came and did an inspection, and all looks pretty good. They also said the Silver West Air Fest is scheduled for August 14th.
Information Technology (IT) head Vernon Roth gave his report. He said groups such as the New Justice Center Committee have been asking him to do stuff and all this is time consuming and what should he do when all these groups ask him for work. I’m not quite sure this was settled after much discussion. During this period, Flower brought up an interesting point noting that the New Justice Center Committee cannot use funds from the Underfunded Courthouse money pot to promote the New Justice Center ballot measure.
It is illegal.
Office of Emergency Management honcho Adrian Washington said the rainfall of late is 140% above normal.
Custer County Sheriff Shannon Byerly was first up under New Business. He is asking the musketeers for around $18,000 to replace the money his office expended during the early COVID panic for overtime and absences. He explained how his office counts overtime and such. It looks like he needs to wait until the muskies get the American Rescue Act going to receive any money.
Next up was James Gilbert, Chair of the Custer County Democrat Committee but, as he previously had said, was here all by his lonesome. He previously presented to the muskies an extremely political (think lefty) proposed resolution that, in essence, said that any new voting laws passed must not interfere with the right to vote. At all. The prior versions of this resolution had all kinds of progressive mantras including that there was ‘absolutely NO voting fraud anywhere in the country in the 2020 election’ and that ‘Biden is the True President’ and the Second Coming (or words to that effect). In the prior meeting on this, the muskies questioned a lot of these fairy dreams and asked him to rewrite it and submit a new one. That is where they are now.
Canda, opened the discussion with comments indicating that he was not too hot on this thing (i.e., he smelled a rat). Flower then said an interesting thing: he said that he was not in favor of it and in fact, the muskies should not have voted for the prior two resolutions on the 1st and 2nd Amendments as it could open a Pandora’s box, which, obviously it has with ‘Gilbert The Lefty’ (GL) and this Trojan horse proposal. So said he would vote no on it. Gilbert became sad.
Day said GL’s proposed resolution was not needed and it had faults and he was a no go. GL’S sadness deepened.
Finally, in a procedural move, Canda moved to discuss the resolution but nobody seconded it so the sneaky resolution was defeated. GL whined in that typical lib manner about how this is what he thought would happen and hastily left the throne chambers headed for a latte purging to rid himself of the pain of defeat and being around these nasty, God fearing republicans. Bye, bye. (What this was folks, was a typically sneaky and immoral move by the lefties to have the muskies go on record against any voter integrity bill or law that would add requirements for voting, like voter id. If a new voter ID was proposed in Colorado, GL could use this resolution to say that Custer County is opposed to it as, in the left’s hallucinogenic viewpoint, any integrity laws are invalid as and anybody in this country here, legal or illegal, should be able to vote. Which is where we will be shortly if things keep going like this. So the muskies did real good here. But beware folks, and to their credit, the bolshies, national and local, never give up and can run the long game as good as Mao. Constant vigilance and offensive action is needed to counteract these constant assaults on our Republic.)
Finally, another land issue came up with some folks from the Bella Vista subdivision (off of CR 255.) They want to change some road names as every darn road name in the subdivision starts with “Bella Vista” and it is confusing delivery people and getting people lost. The lady presenting the proposal had maps, sign offs from the people involved and the proposed new names. About five or ten minutes into the discussion, Flower said, based on his research, that this subdivision was never approved by the county and thus, they had no jurisdiction over this matter. County Attorney Clint Smith was not there to comment on that. Planning and Zoning bigwig Jackie Hobby, I think, didn’t comment on it. So instead of putting this off until everybody could find out if the muskies could exercise their royal power over this, the whole room spent like the next half hour pouring over the maps, the property owners, etc. On and on. Finally, apparently exhausted from this flat earth exercise, they told the lady to see Smith and get back to them. Geez.
In Public Comments, the venerable Dallas Anderson rose to speak about Gilbert the Lefty’s sneaky proposed resolution, and it was quite interesting. Dallas said he saw the same resolution that GL was proposing on an Antifa website (nobody asked what Dallas was doing on the Antifa website and maybe nobody should ask.) and The website also had instructions on how to get it passed in republican counties and towns. Who would have guessed. Dallas then thanked the muskies for shooting the red star down.
And that was that.
