Liberty Rocks at Lange Hall – April 2024

April 2024 Liberty Rocks
“Our world has lost touch with what’s right”

The quote above was made by Mr. Jeff Lindsey, candidate for District Attorney of District 2.

It was another one of those typically busy evenings at the Liberty Rocks event of April 18th. Chairperson Ann Barthrop called the meeting to order at fifteen minutes past six and after the requisite Pledge of Allegiance and the group singing “America The Beautiful”, the invocation was read by Ms. Lisa Kidwell from the book “Prayers and Presidents” by W. Federer. The quote was from one of the most popular conservative presidents, Ronald Reagan, in a speech delivered at the National Religious Broadcasters Association. “To preserve our blessed land, we must look to God.” said the late president during his speech that evening of February 9,1982. He went on to say,” and, we must look at the hearthstone, because that’s where all hope for America lies. Families are the bedrock of our nation…teachers of cooperation, tolerance, concern and responsibility. Rebuilding America begins with restoring family strength and preserving family values.”
The first speaker for the evening was Commissioner Bill Canda who gave an update of the March 21 meeting of Liberty Rocks when actor, film and documentary producer Ricky Shroder made a historic presentation, the first of its kind, of his project entitled Council on Pornographic Reform (CPR). This is an effort to bring national attention to the problem of pornography being easily accessible to the general public but most importantly to youth below the age of eighteen. The second historic event took place on March 27 when the Custer County Board of County Commissioners approved Resolution 24-05 which in part prohibits “the delivery of internet pornography within the limits of Custer County, Colorado to minor children under the age of eighteen”. It also advocates for other towns and communities in Colorado to formulate legislation adopting the same restrictions. This effort can be achieved by convincing providers to include a mechanism (age verification) on the websites that prevent children under eighteen from viewing said contents. Commissioner Canda highlighted the fact that in their action, the BOCC had made history for the county.
Attorney Jeff Lindsey, who is campaigning for District Attorney for District 11was next on the agenda. A conservative Christian who lives in Cañon City and has been practicing law for over thirty years.
